Our community football club is off to a fantastic start this season, with the senior teams setting a blistering pace! It’s clear the club has a strong group of dedicated players who bring their best to training each week. The healthy competition and high standards among players are driving success on the pitch.
The club is thriving at all levels, boasting over 30 registered under-18 players. With this remarkable growth, the club now competes on Sundays and in the competitive midweek floodlit league. It’s exciting to see nine of these talented young players already making their mark on the senior teams, with more expected to join in the coming months.
In a recent cup game, five under-18 players took to the field for the first team. A special highlight was a debut goal from a young player who has been with the club since age six, scoring just six days after his 16th birthday! Additionally, Jamie Draper (16) showed his skill between the posts for the new Winscombe & Churchill First team, while Harry Walsh came off the bench for the reserves to net four goals in an impressive 8-4 comeback.
The future looks bright for Winscombe & Churchill Football Club, thanks to a solid player pathway and the dedicated efforts of coaches, managers, and committee members. This season, our senior teams have an impressive record of 12 wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses across 16 matches—a fantastic start!
