Timber Harvesting Work at Rowberrow Warren
Forestry England will soon begin timber harvesting work at Rowberrow Warren, starting this week and continuing until March 2025. The work involves thinning the trees across a wide area, as shown on the attached map. Selected trees will be removed for timber products, giving the remaining trees more space and light to grow to their full potential. This process also allows more light onto the forest floor, improving habitats for ground flora and the wildlife it supports. Additionally, ride sides will be widened to benefit butterflies.
More information about this work is available on the Forestry England website: Forestry Operations at Rowberrow Warren.
The forest will remain open for visitors during this time, but there will be occasions when access around the forest needs to be temporarily closed to ensure safety while work is underway. Visitors are urged to follow all signs and instructions, which are essential for safety. Forestry work involves significant hazards, including falling trees and heavy machinery, so adhering to guidelines will help ensure a safe environment and allow the work to be completed as quickly as possible.
Forestry England is committed to explaining how this sustainable forest management supports the long-term health and resilience of the forest.
