With elections for all North Somerset Council seats scheduled for May 2027, North Somerset Council is organising two “Be a Councillor” events to provide information and guidance for anyone considering standing for election.

The sessions will help attendees understand:

  • What it’s like to be a councillor
  • How decisions are made
  • The expected time commitment
  • What candidates need to do to stand for election
  • How councillors can make a difference in their communities.

The events will take place on:

Thursday 8 October, 6.30pm to 8pm online via Microsoft Teams

Saturday 14 November, 11am to 12.30pm Weston-super-Mare Town Hall
(with optional networking until 1pm).

The sessions will be chaired by our Chief Executive Mandy Bishop and will feature councillors from across North Somerset Council’s political groups, together with a representative from the Local Government Association.
