Temporary Footpath Closures in Churchill and Sandford – Ladymead path diversion route
A number of public footpaths in Churchill and Sandford are temporarily closed while North Somerset Council carries out works to upgrade the routes.
The closures came into force on 17th August 2026 and the works are expected to take around four months. The legal order allows closures for up to six months if needed.
The affected footpaths are:
• AX14/21/20, between Churchill Green and Footpath AX29/51/10
• AX29/51/10, between Greenhill Road and Footpath AX14/21/20
• AX14/36/10, between Footpaths AX14/36/20 and AX14/34/10
• AX14/36/20, between Footpaths AX14/36/30 and AX14/36/10
• AX14/36/30, between Church Lane and Footpath AX14/36/20
• AX14/38/30, between Footpaths AX14/36/10 and AX14/34/20
• AX14/34/10, between Footpath AX14/36/10 and Ladymead Lane
• AX14/34/20, between Footpaths AX14/38/30 and AX14/34/10
• AX14/42/20, between Ladymead Lane and Broadoak Road
Alternative walking routes
For AX29/51/10 and AX14/21/20:
Use Greenhill Road, Greenhill Lane, Footpaths AX29/46/30 and AX14/22/10, and Churchill Green.
For AX14/36/10, AX14/36/20, AX14/36/30, AX14/38/30, AX14/34/10 and AX14/34/20:
Use Church Lane and Footpaths AX14/29/10, AX14/31/20, AX14/42/60, AX14/42/50, AX14/42/40 and AX14/42/30.
For AX14/42/20:
Use Broadoak Road, the connecting public footpaths, Bristol Road and Ladymead Lane.
Signs will be displayed while the closures are in place. Please follow the signed diversions and avoid entering closed sections while the improvement works are under way.
