As part of the Banwell Bypass wider mitigation to reduce the impact of any increased traffic and its speed in the nearby villages of Sandford, Winscombe and Churchill, we are writing to let you know of upcoming works in your area.
- 28 September-16 October (extension from 9 October) – Single-lane closure with traffic management on junction of Dinghurst Road and Hilliers Lane
- 19 October-18 December – phased closure of Church Lane (see below for more detail)
- 26-30 October – night-time speed bump works at 5 locations on the A368
- 26-30 October – 2-way lights on Churchill Green near Front Street (during Churchill Academy Half Term)

- October-18 December – phased closure of Church Lane (detail)
- Church Lane will be closed in sections between driveways, one section at a time starting by Churchill Academy and working northwards, (see diagram above for individual sections in red)
- Resident access to driveways will be maintained either from the north (via the diversion route) or the south as work progresses along Church Lane
- Usual parking on Church Lane will be maintained outside of our working areas
- As work progresses, there will be increased access from Churchill Green and Front Street, until every section is complete and the road re-opens
- Single-lane traffic will be maintained during weekends
- Access to Churchill Parish Church will be via Church Street on the weekends, and via the diversion route during the working week.
- The diversion route is via Brinsea Batch, Stock Lane, Bristol Road, Dinghurst Road (and vice versa)
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this. Thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding whilst we complete the construction of the Banwell Bypass and associated wider mitigation works.
