Travel information
- Ladymead Lane one-way system
Ladymead Lane is now northbound only between the A38 Bristol Road and Turnpike Close.
Vehicles can enter Ladymead Lane from the A38. They cannot travel southbound along this section to exit onto the A38.
The restriction operates at all times. The temporary notice allows it to remain in place for up to 21 days from 7 September.
The alternative route uses Ladymead Lane, Pudding Pie Lane, Stock Lane and the A38.

- Strawberry Line weekday closures
The Strawberry Line remains closed on weekdays between the A38 and the tunnel near Axbridge. The connected route to Winscombe Sports and Social Club is also closed.
The first phase is due to finish on Friday 18 September. The route remains open at weekends.
The closures allow diseased ash trees to be removed. Diversions use local roads and may not suit every user.

- Churchill footpath AX14/15/10
The full length of footpath AX14/15/10 remains subject to a temporary closure notice.
The current notice began on 26 August and covers up to 21 days. A signed alternative route uses the A38 footway towards Jews Lane and nearby public footpaths.
A further closure is expected from 6 October for approximately two months.

- Barton Road closure in Winscombe
Barton Road, adjacent to Longacres, is due to close from Tuesday 22 September for approximately two days.
Bristol Water will remove a stop tap. Access will be maintained for emergency services, works vehicles and affected properties where the work allows.

- Work near Weston railway station
Work begins at Hildesheim Bridge on Francis Fox Roundabout on Monday 14 September.
Most work will take place between 9.30am and 3.30pm, Monday to Friday, with lane closures in operation. Some overnight closures will be required later in the project.
Residents travelling to Weston railway station or the town centre should allow extra time.

Events and community news
- Winscombe Village Show
Saturday 12 September, 1.30pm to 4pm.
The annual show takes place at Winscombe Community Centre and on the community green, 11 Sandford Road.
The event raises funds for Winscombe Community Centre.

- Ice Age mammals on Mendip
Monday 21 September.
Refreshments from 2pm. Talk at 2.30pm.
Professor Danielle Schreve will present “Winscombe Wolves and Wrington Rhinos: Ice Age Mammals on Mendip” at Winscombe Community Centre.
Admission is £2 for members and £3 for visitors.

- Birnbeck Pier Heritage Open Days
A programme of free events runs in Weston-super-Mare from Friday 11 to Sunday 20 September.
Activities include talks about the pier, restoration contractors and its wartime history. There are also cardboard-pier workshops and a meet-the-team event on Saturday 19 September.
Most talks and workshops require advance booking.

• Sing for Fun every Friday, 1.30pm to 2.30pm, at St Mary’s Church, Langford.
• Trinity Singers every Tuesday during term time, 7.30pm to 9.30pm, at Churchill Primary School.
