Travel information
- Major bus changes from 30 August
Several changes begin this weekend:
• Service 125 between Weston-super-Mare, Winscombe and Wrington will be withdrawn.
• Service 125s between Winscombe and Churchill Academy will be withdrawn.
• The U2 between Bristol, Langford and Weston-super-Mare will have a revised timetable. The new timetable is now available online.
• The Wrington WESTlink zone will expand to include Sandford and Winscombe from 31 August.

New timetable: U2 timetable from 30 August
- Strawberry Line weekday closures from 1 September
Tree-safety work begins on Tuesday 1 September. Sections of the Strawberry Line around Winscombe will close on weekdays while ash trees affected by Ash Dieback are removed.
The line will remain open at weekends.
The first phase runs from 1 to 18 September. Work will take place between the A38 and the tunnel. The route through to Winscombe Sports and Social Club will be closed to allow machinery and timber removal.
Diversions may use local roads and may not suit every user. Paths and public rights of way crossing the affected section will also close.

- Ladymead Lane closure from 2 September
Ladymead Lane in Langford is due to close from Wednesday 2 September for approximately three days.
Work is scheduled between 8am and 5pm while Bristol Water installs a new supply.

- Mead Lane closure from 3 September
Mead Lane in Sandford is due to close between Station Road and the new residential development access from Thursday 3 September.
The work involves building a new footway and associated highway improvements. The programme is expected to last around 57 days, although the closure may not operate continuously.

- Dinghurst Road closure on 8 September
Dinghurst Road in Churchill is due to close between Hillier’s Lane and Front Street on Tuesday 8 September.
The legal notice gives a closure time of 9.30am to 3.30pm. Openreach will undertake cabling work for a new customer connection.
Access will be maintained for emergency services, works vehicles and affected properties where works allow.

Parish update published 20 August: Dinghurst Road closure
- Half Yard closure
The six-day closure at Blackmoor Bridge began on 24 August and may remain in place until around 30 August.
Residents should continue to follow signs and check the live diversion information.

Events and community news
- September minibus timetable
The Churchill and Langford Minibus Society has published its September timetable.
Early September trips include Weston-super-Mare, Sidmouth, Yatton, Wells, Flowerdown, Nailsea and Worle. Membership is free. A small donation is requested for each journey, subject to seat availability.
The service can collect passengers close to home. Contact details for each organiser appear on the timetable.

- Free yoga at Churchill Recreation Ground
Free outdoor yoga sessions will take place at Churchill Recreation Ground on:
• Sunday 30 August, 10am to 11am
• Sunday 6 September, 10am to 11am

- Free bus travel for under-16s ends on 6 September
Under-16s can travel free on almost all qualifying local buses until Sunday 6 September.
There is no need to register. Some premium services and cross-boundary journeys are excluded.

- Proposed Winscombe parking restrictions
North Somerset Council is consulting on proposed double yellow lines along both sides of the access road into the Valley Oaks development, off Sandford Road.
Residents can support or object to the proposals. Comments must arrive by 5pm on Friday 11 September.
