  1. Front Street closure, Churchill

Front Street will close outside Bell House from Thursday 24 September for approximately two days.

Bristol Water will repair a leaking stop tap. The diversion will use Front Street, Hilliers Lane and Dinghurst Road.

  1. Ladymead Lane one-way system

Ladymead Lane remains one-way between the A38 and Turnpike Close.

Vehicles can enter from the A38 and travel northbound. They cannot travel southbound to exit onto the A38.

A new order begins on Monday 28 September. The arrangement is expected to continue for approximately 27 weeks while work progresses at the Churchill traffic lights.

  1. Strawberry Line weekday closures

The second phase of safety work begins on Monday 28 September and continues until Friday 9 October.

The section between the tunnel near Axbridge and Winscombe Sports and Social Club will close. The line will be closed from the A38 to the social club while diseased ash trees are removed.

The Strawberry Line will remain open at weekends. Diversions use local roads and may not suit every user.

  1. Churchill footpath closure

The full length of footpath AX14/15/10 remains closed to pedestrians.

The current notice runs for up to 21 days from 16 September. A further order begins on 6 October, with the closure expected to continue for approximately two months.

The signed alternative route uses the A38 footway towards Jews Lane and nearby public footpaths.

  1. Current bus arrangements

Service 125 and the 125s school service have been withdrawn. The U2 is operating to its revised timetable.

WESTlink’s Wrington zone now includes Sandford and Winscombe.

Residents should check their journey before travelling.

The Academy will hold three events for prospective Year 7 pupils and their families:

• Wednesday 30 September, 5pm to 8pm: Open Evening

• Tuesday 6 October, 9am to midday: Open Morning

• Wednesday 7 October, 9am to midday: Open Morning

The Village Diary currently lists:

• Help with Tech every Thursday, 10am to 11.30am, at the Market Kitchen Community Café. Booking is required.

• Sing for Fun every Friday, 1.30pm to 2.30pm, at St Mary’s Church, Langford.

• Trinity Singers every Tuesday during term time, 7.30pm to 9.30pm, at Churchill Primary School.

• The Ladies Lunch Club on the first Tuesday of each month at the Methodist Church Hall. Booking is required.

Advance notice

Bath Road in Langford will close from 16 to 22 October for water-main installation work. Temporary traffic lights and a 20mph limit will then operate from 23 October to 6 November.
